In May 2015, Co-Founder Thomas Smith and friend Teague Egan completed the 2,109 mile Thomas E. Smith Foundation Reality Ride Challenge from Boston, MA to Miami, FL. Serving as a beacon of hope for the paralysis community, this ride encompassed strength, determination, hard-work and proof that if you set your mind to do something that you believe in, anything is possible!

The Reality Ride Challenge was a 38-day event that consisted of 31 days of physically and mentally challenging events. During the 31 days of cycling, Thomas and Teague performed an average of 65 miles a day on their bicycles, 3 miles a day in a hand-cycle wheelchair in recognition of Thomas’ 3 paralyzing accidents, and walked 1 mile per day. By the end of the event, The Thomas E. Smith Foundation had reached their goal of raising $100,000 for The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis, the world’s most comprehensive paralysis research center. The money raised was donated to the cutting edge paralysis research that is being performed at the Miami Project. We are proud, honored and humbled to work with the Miami Project and be stakeholders in helping find a cure for paralysis! Thank you to everyone who helped make this event such a huge success!
